The three of us are finally back home after two nights in the hospital. It all started on Saturday evening (13th) when Eleanor began throwing up. She continued for about 5 hours vomiting every 20 minutes or so when we decided to take her in to the emergency room. They said she had a stomach virus, admitted her, put in her I.V., and we finally got settled into her room around midnight Sunday morning.

Our pediatrician came in on Sunday morning to check on Ellie. As she was leaving she said that she could go home tomorrow. We were a little unprepared for this, so Neale left later on that day to get us some clothes. We were also hoping that we could just go home on Sunday, but then Ellie developed a little fever, so they said she needed to stay one more night.

We thought we were finished with the hardest part until Monday morning around 4 am. At exactly the same time, Neale and I both got sick. We continued taking turns in the bathroom until the nurses brought us up some wheelchairs to take us down to the ER. So the two of us left Ellie with the nurses while we went to the ER. We stayed down there for about 2 hours and then were able to join Ellie back in her room. We were feeling a little better but we were both exhausted. We called one of the Christians, P. Hui, if she could come to the hospital to play with Ellie while we got a little rest. We are so thankful that she was able to do that for us!

The doctor had checked on Ellie Monday morning and said that she should stay one more night at the hospital. We were not excited about this, so when she came back in the afternoon, Neale convinced her that we could go home. Ellie was feeling much better. Her fever was gone. No more vomiting. We all just needed to go home and sleep. P. Hui with her son Klui took the three of us back home. What should have been a 30 minute drive took us around 2 hours to get home….at least we all were able to take a little nap in the car.

That is one Valentine’s day I won’t forget!
